Oh to sleep, perchance to dream, hahahhaha.......Let me tell you about the time we like to call last night. It all started at bed time. "But mom" says the boy, I will fall asleep if you let the Tv be on to the movie I want to watch. Girl has to spend extra time getting ready for bed. Then she has to set up her new alarm clock. Time, alarm and of course radio station.
Oh and let me set the locations up for you. Boy sleeps in my room since dad is in Iraq. Girl is on the couch because between a scary text message and the feeling that she is being "watched" when she is upstairs she is too freaked out to be in her room. Oh and we are kennel traing the dog. Forget the fact that he is 3 and has slept on my feet for the past oh 3 years. The kennel is across from the couch.
So, the dog is in his kennel and with the clock radio being set he is already wimpering and crying. The clock is set, we know what the alarm will sound like and I start getting ready for bed. As I approach the bed there is my girl sitting on the edge of the bed explaining that her toe nails need to be filled cause it gets snagged on the sheets. So we trim her nails. Everyone is finally in their night time resting places.
Well, by this time the movie that boy wanted to watch is now over. It is past 10:30 and he is still awake. I turn off the TV. The boy starts getting upset. He can't sleep in his bed, and can't sleep in my bed cause "the springs of the bed hurt because they push on the pressure points on his back". He continues with the "but I will fall asleep if you turn the TV back on". Upon reminding him that is what he said about the movie I decide to try to sleep and hope that eventually he will lay down and do like wise. The TV stays off.
Finally gliding into sleep with the boy, pouting, sitting on the edge of the bed, the dog howling in the other room, and the cat is asleep on my back. To easy....Girl then walks back into my room asking if she can let the dog out of the kennel. The answer is no at that point. We are trying to train him and we can't let him out just because he in noisy. At this point Steve is asleep. So I get up and go into the living room. You see last night when I slept in the living room on the chair the dog calmed down and slept in his kennel all night. Of couse that was not going to be a repeat preformence. Time check approx. 12:30am. So I am on the chair, girl on couch and dog whimpering even louder. Luckily for me Disney Cannel has interesting TV at that time of night.
After awhile of unsucessful dog calming. I send Lindsey into my bed, I switch to the couch and the dog continues to howl.
The next thing I know Steve is on the chair watching TV, Lindsey says she can't sleep in my bed and wants the couch back, I give.....The dog comes out of the kennel, Lindsey is back on the couch complaining of a headache and worring about ISTEP tests witch start today, and Steve is half awake/ half asleep on the chair. I walk the dog who has to now go out. Then, I go to bed. Time check 4am. Dog licking my toes. At this point I don't care.
Shortly there after My cute and adorible son crawls back into bed and asks for a begal. I roll over an gently tell him that in two hours when it is time to wake I will then make him breakfast. Then to end the night of chaos the alarm goes off and the day starts.
There is a good thing to end this tale. I woke with a smile. Not sure how....must be God. With God's help, coffee and Dr. Pepper, today will be a super day. The sun is shinning. The wind chill is upto 0 degrees, life is good.
