An average morning.... Mom wakes up at 6:30. She gets up takes the "puppy" out, this includes walking him around town to get some of his energy out and to do his business. Comes back in and hollers to the children who need to wake up and get ready for school. Time 6:50. Feeds and waters both dogs, cat, and bunny. Daughters alarm clock has been going off for 15 minutes now. Mom goes upstairs to physically wake up the children who have yet to move. First she talks nice to them, then she sings, next she wrestle plays with them to get them moving, finally mom yells and threatens them and they start to stir. Time 7:10. Mom goes to make breakfast for the hungry pair. The kids come down stairs and proceed to fight over the bathroom cause they are both going to explode. Only one bathroom in the house. Daughter complains that her stomach hurts. Mom hugs her and tells her to get dressed. Breakfast is ready. Time 7:20. Daughter, dressed, gets her breakfast and begings to eat. She gets up to do her hair and whatnot. "Puppy" eats half of her breakfast. "Puppy" goes into his kennel. Mom yells up the stairs for the son who has not been seen since the bathroom scene. He is "supposedly" getting dressed. In truth he is not getting dressed he is playing with his Legos. Mom knows this and hollers at him to hurry up. Time 7:25. Mom walks dog #2. Comes in and sees that sons breakfast has not been touched. Daughter still in the bathroom getting herself ready. Mom now snaps on the son. He says that he is now getting dressed. Time 7:35. Mom is hounding son to eat while he is putting on his shoes. "But mom I have no clean socks" he says. Mom goes to the daughter's room to borrow a pair of sock. Mom finds clean clothes that were "put away" all over the floor. Mom grabs a pair of clean socks off of the floor. At this point mom's yelling, daughter is being dramatic over worrying about missing the bus, and son is trodding along putting on his shoes. Time 7:40.
Mom hugs them one at a time and tells them she loves them, be safe, and to have a great day. I watch them leave and pray. I am greatful I have these kids to be chaotic with every morning. An average morning.

The night that wouldn't end

Oh to sleep, perchance to dream, hahahhaha.......Let me tell you about the time we like to call last night. It all started at bed time. "But mom" says the boy, I will fall asleep if you let the Tv be on to the movie I want to watch. Girl has to spend extra time getting ready for bed. Then she has to set up her new alarm clock. Time, alarm and of course radio station.

Oh and let me set the locations up for you. Boy sleeps in my room since dad is in Iraq. Girl is on the couch because between a scary text message and the feeling that she is being "watched" when she is upstairs she is too freaked out to be in her room. Oh and we are kennel traing the dog. Forget the fact that he is 3 and has slept on my feet for the past oh 3 years. The kennel is across from the couch.

So, the dog is in his kennel and with the clock radio being set he is already wimpering and crying. The clock is set, we know what the alarm will sound like and I start getting ready for bed. As I approach the bed there is my girl sitting on the edge of the bed explaining that her toe nails need to be filled cause it gets snagged on the sheets. So we trim her nails. Everyone is finally in their night time resting places.

Well, by this time the movie that boy wanted to watch is now over. It is past 10:30 and he is still awake. I turn off the TV. The boy starts getting upset. He can't sleep in his bed, and can't sleep in my bed cause "the springs of the bed hurt because they push on the pressure points on his back". He continues with the "but I will fall asleep if you turn the TV back on". Upon reminding him that is what he said about the movie I decide to try to sleep and hope that eventually he will lay down and do like wise. The TV stays off.

Finally gliding into sleep with the boy, pouting, sitting on the edge of the bed, the dog howling in the other room, and the cat is asleep on my back. To easy....Girl then walks back into my room asking if she can let the dog out of the kennel. The answer is no at that point. We are trying to train him and we can't let him out just because he in noisy. At this point Steve is asleep. So I get up and go into the living room. You see last night when I slept in the living room on the chair the dog calmed down and slept in his kennel all night. Of couse that was not going to be a repeat preformence. Time check approx. 12:30am. So I am on the chair, girl on couch and dog whimpering even louder. Luckily for me Disney Cannel has interesting TV at that time of night.
After awhile of unsucessful dog calming. I send Lindsey into my bed, I switch to the couch and the dog continues to howl.

The next thing I know Steve is on the chair watching TV, Lindsey says she can't sleep in my bed and wants the couch back, I give.....The dog comes out of the kennel, Lindsey is back on the couch complaining of a headache and worring about ISTEP tests witch start today, and Steve is half awake/ half asleep on the chair. I walk the dog who has to now go out. Then, I go to bed. Time check 4am. Dog licking my toes. At this point I don't care.

Shortly there after My cute and adorible son crawls back into bed and asks for a begal. I roll over an gently tell him that in two hours when it is time to wake I will then make him breakfast. Then to end the night of chaos the alarm goes off and the day starts.

There is a good thing to end this tale. I woke with a smile. Not sure how....must be God. With God's help, coffee and Dr. Pepper, today will be a super day. The sun is shinning. The wind chill is upto 0 degrees, life is good.

Sunshine

Good morning,
Life is good when the sun is bright. The snow is beautiful on the ground. It makes the worlds ills only a shadow. The clean air, fresh carmel coffee at your side, the knowledge that spring is on its way, taxes are filled, and the house is spotless. School today will be awesome. The plan for today is balanced with fun and learning. Dinner is in the crock pot and will be ready after the girl is home from basketball. The radio is playing softly in the background. The world is at peace.
Then the ball that "doesn't get thrown in the house" knocks you upside the head. Then you come back to the real world. The wonderful son is not dressed even though you have told him to 17 times. The dog is chewing something??? The coffee is actually yesterday's heated up in the microwave. The house is a disaster. And gosh darn it, it is cold outside and I am tired of snow. Personal space is a thing of the past. Cartoons are blaring in the background. The crock pot is still dirty from last nights dinner. For school I will need strength and a bull whip. BUT..........
I have the power to choose what reality I shall participate in today. I will go now, turn off the TV, remove the stuffed fish from the dog's grasp, drink another cup of java, and enjoy the energy of my 8 year old.

Why dogs should walk themselves.

Ok it's winter in the arctic north. I have an adorible dog, Killer. He is a chunky, black and white, fox terrier. Little dog needed a big name. Hubby wanted to call him "darn it" so our son could chase after him saying "come here darn it". But I digresss. At 20 degrees with a wind that would make a polar bear shiver, a person should not have to walk a dog. They should be able to walk themselves. However my dog is not on the top of the IQ chart. He likes to run. He likes his freedom. He apparently does not remember how being under a Honda really feels. So I am back where I started from. Believing, hopeful for change, but I must now go out and walk the dog. Brrrrrrrr.

PS. I cleaned up what Mike really wanted to call the dog cause I don't think I can use curse words in a blog.

Welcome to my first blog attempt.

Hi all,
